THE STORY

My name is Miosha “Yosh” Wagoner. I am a Navajo boxer who had a goal to reach the 2016 Summer Olympics. I am honored to be able to give back to my people. I am a strong believer in promoting empowerment. I believe we don’t get where we are in life alone and it is an honor for me to give back to my Native community. I teach what I like to call “Rez Boxing” that promotes health and wellness through boxing and other cardio fitness exercises. I have taken opportunities to speak with elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, college classes, sports teams, native communities, and prevention programs.
I have been competing in women’s boxing for the last two years in hopes of making to the 2016 Olympic Games. Recently I have been given the opportunity of a life time to compete in All-Indian Boxing Championships in June and in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in August for my Tribal Nation, the Dine (Navajo People).
It will be a great honor for me to compete in the above mention boxing tournaments as it has been a long time goal. I will have the opportunity to represent not only my tribal nation but those who have encouraged me to never give up along this wonderful journey. To reach this goal I have been working closely my coaches and dedicating more time to the ring.
